Frequently Asked Questions…
How old does my child need to be to attend On-Stage Now?
Our students are aged 7 to 18 for our Sunday and Tuesday groups.
What is the difference between the sessions at The Riverside Arts Centre and the after school programmes at local primary schools?
Our Sunday and Tuesday groups at The Riverside Arts Centre are for children interested in training in musical theatre by rehearsing and performing in full-scale musicals, directed by a team of industry professionals. Each session is run as a rehearsal for the upcoming show, and students are taught technique while rehearsing. Often, additional rehearsals are called for the students to attend nearer to the show dates. Our shows are performed with professional sound and lighting equipment.
The after school programmes are for children attending the school at which they take place and children engage in drama games, activities and tasks for an hour after the school day. These sessions are for those who wish to build confidence, boost creativity and enhance teamwork skills while learning some basic drama techniques. The after school programmes are run by industry professionals too.
What should my child wear to On-Stage Now?
We have On-Stage Now hoodies and t-shirts as optional uniform for our members. Our dress code expectations for Sunday and Tuesday groups can be found on our Ts and Cs: Ts and Cs — On-Stage Now
Children attending an after school programme can attend in their school uniform and comfortable shoes.
What should my child bring to their On-Stage Now sessions?
Water, a snack, a pencil/erasable pen and their script. If a rehearsal is extended, we may advise you to pack a lunch/tea for your child.
How will I know about any changes to rehearsal times/venue?
We will always keep you up to date with any changes to timings/venue ASAP via email and our parent Whatsapp group. Please ensure that you are on the Whatsapp group and if you are not, speak to Mary/Amelia directly.
How do I buy tickets to my child’s next show?
We usually sell tickets on the door for each performance, but as our company expands we are starting to look into ways to pre-book your tickets. We will keep you posted on this!
Can my child help out backstage instead of being in the show?
All non-performers in shows (technical team, crew, creative team, etc) must be over 18.
